Over the past week, I’ve looked into what components would be necessary when building a website. I want to ensure that it is easy to look around and quick to navigate around. I’ve looked at other Marketplace websites and how each other differs and what are some similarities. One thing that stood out from last week’s crash course on HTML was Bootstrap. Bootstrap is essentially a plugin that will allow my website to become more responsive with a modern look.
I’m looking at other resources that would help me with website building aside from online sources. I recently got in communication with Kel from IMM130 who has taught me HTML and looking forward to over continuing discussion on the website and what tools or resources I should into that would be beneficial to my project.
Another thing I want to continue developing is the hands-on part of this thesis. On my initial concept and revised concept, I want to implement a storage component to my project and have a computer communicate with the website to check automatically if the item in stock or not. Essentially, I would either use a pressure weight plate or a distance sensor to indicate if there is an item in the slot. However, while this does check if something is in there or not, it limits the changes I can make to the layout and currently looking for other ways to use storage.
I believe with a website alone is not enough and would like to use Arduinos or Raspberry Pi for my project. Either I will look into similar usage of scanning items in and out through the usage of QR codes could be helpful and it would make storing much easier.
