I dedicated my first research to finding different film techniques in visual albums. I found a few examples that peaked my interest. The first of which is from Frank Ocean’s video album, Endless. This video used a very different technique that I hadn’t seen before. There were 4 cameras used for the video. One camera was placed on each side of the square room. In the middle of the room was a man doing things. I find this to be a very cool setup because video from four different angles can provide different perspectives of what is happening. This is a method that I am highly considering for my video album.
Another video album that is currently inspiring me is Lemonade, by Beyonce. This album wasn’t entirely music, and there wasn’t a single theme. Each song had its very own video and in between songs there were stories being told through more videos. It was very cool and I am also considering doing something along these lines. The idea of a music video leading into another video that continues a story, even without music, to another music video is genius.
I can definitely see myself utilizing similar techniques from both of these videos in my video.
