This week, I have discussed my thesis with Kel, a professor I had IMM130 which focused on HTML. As mentioned before, Kel is a very perfect outside resource other than online tutorials or documents. Discussion with Kel focused on making looking at what type of users would be interacting with the page. User stories are very effective that allows me to get a better understanding of how I should structure my website. I’ve decided I wanted to have a user-friendly website that focused on attracting users with ‘colorful’ buttons and simplistic design.
I also decided on a name for the website, Shop N’ Swap. This name perfectly describes what the focus of the website is. Students/Users would be able to shop for items that people would like to sell and no longer have a need. Swap focuses on the second part of the website, allowing users to rent items that they wouldn’t normally purchase or use.
Furthermore, I have looked into different ways of database and forms. I want to ensure that people are able to create a login and select items on the website. Below I have created a rough sketch of how many webpages the website will contain and is the contents/theme. What I look forward to is to look at different color themes for the website and what style of fonts I would like to use. To continue this research, I will look and compare with e-commerce websites and popular sites people like to use.
