Prototyping

Kenny’s Prototype Plan

For my first prototype, I will provide visuals  reacting to music that I plan to use for my final demonstration. This includes using many different video effects used with pre-made music and synthesizers. This will demonstrate the audio-visual aspects of my project. I hope to learn more about what others think about how the audio and visuals synchronize regarding what sounds go with what kind of visuals. To solicit this information, I will ask questions about anything that comes to mind when seeing and hearing the visuals and audio, and how they think it can be improved upon.

For my second prototype, I will build upon my first prototype adding a MIDI trigger system for myself and others to test the interactive component of my project. This will include triggering sounds or parts of songs that interact with visuals through MIDI signals. I hope to learn what others think about controlling the audio and visuals and hope they can control the system themselves if they want. To solicit this information, I will ask what others think the best possible means of controlling this system is and about how they think it can be improved upon.

For my third prototype, I will have a small demonstration of my project to summarize what the overall main idea of my project. This will include planned visuals and music with macro control knobs to gradually morph parameters of video and audio effects so I can control what visuals are showing at any time. I hope to learn more about how my project fits all together in short segments. To solicit this information, I will ask others what they think about these segments and what ideas they may have for the overall project demonstration.

  1. Good plan! You’ve identified 3 distinct aspects of your project and isolated each one for testing and feedback. You’ve thought about the specific input you want to gather, and you have a plan for collecting it.

Based on how the prototypes each build on the previous one, I’m assuming that each one will reflect what you learned from the feedback on the earlier demonstrations.

    Nice job!
