Based on the feedback I received about my initial prototype for my thesis project I have made a number of adjustments to the way that I view the process of accomplishing my project. This feedback experience was very informative as the perspectives on my prototype helped alleviate some of the concerns I had about the logistics of my project.
During my presentation of my prototype I showcased two distinctly different version of a 2D animation format that I was looking to employ. As people came around I was looking to see which style resonated more with people as to solidify one style to use in my project. However, as I spoke with my peers regarding my possible uses for the different styles it was suggested to me that the styles have a quality to them that is so vastly different that they could be used for different purposes. This idea of the uniqueness of the two styles being separate but equal meant that I didn’t have to choose between one or the other, but rather that I could use both in different scenarios.
This perspective was different from my original intention for the different visual styles as I was hoping to choose three distinct styles that would all be animations of the same length. With this new outlook on the visual styles I had I was no longer inclined to restrict myself to what was previously a very uniform method of design. The feedback I received has improved my interpretation of the role that the animated elements of my piece can serve.
