Albright – Research Update 1

My research thus far has been mostly focused around shoring up my knowledge of the Unity platform and the C# scripting language. Though I haven’t been doing any research into VR, as I do not have a platform with which to test it, I have been teaching myself the software in the scope of 3D applications. Much of my learning has been from working alongside of Unity’s own “Learn with Code” tutorials, reading through the Unity scripting API, and, of course, watching the occasional video tutorial. While there isn’t much to say about the “Learn with Code” lessons, or the scripting API, getting hands on with the program and working to create something is, for me, the fastest way to learn.

One such video I used to better grasp the complex particle effects system in Unity

Outside of Unity and C#. I have also recently started working with the recording studio in the AIMM building, which I hope to use to record a few musicians to perform the music. Though currently my knowledge of operating the studio is limited to signal flow and general setup and troubleshooting, over the next few weeks I hope to become accustomed to operating the console as well as how to use microphone placement, spacing, and figuring out studio plots to get the desired sound and balancing.

So far I don’t have much to show; however, that will change over the following weeks.
