During the presentation of my first prototype, I showed between three to five instrumentals to each classmate that stopped by to take a listen to what I have been working on. While some of the tracks lack a main melodic riff and all of them are missing a vocal overlay, almost all the feedback that I received was positive. Everybody who stopped by liked the sonic direction I was taking my project in. Even though not everybody was a fan of the exact genre, everyone was able to find some type of ear candy in the tracks that stood out to them and drew them in.
One of the biggest pieces of constructive criticism that I received was that while the tone of the project is meant to be more lowkey and vibey, that it may be a bit dull if every song on the piece followed this theme. Even though I had previously known of this idea, is it was nice to hear my classmates confirm my suspicions and tell me that I need to throw in a few tracks with either a higher tempo or ones that have more energetic instrumentals to keep my listeners on their toes. I loved this idea not only because it brought more life to my project, but it continued to allow me to hop genres and expand the sonic identity of the mixtape. Currently, I am working on new ideas that I can place into the tracklist that makes the piece feel like a rollercoaster of emotions with highs and lows.
