Jamie’s Prototype Feedback #2

  • What I chose to make: I made a different home design floorpan/layout based on suggestions on my first design. I also did some research and calculations on the type of stairs or thing I’d like to have to reach the upper level.
  • What I hope to learn: Firstly, I had to make sure people knew that this design was going to be for a single person/couple, and was designed for the goals of privacy and to have a small home office space. I wanted to learn what people thought of my new floorpan so I could finalize this one as the one I will be building.
  • How I will go about getting this information: I ended up just chatting with people, again, and suggestions or comments naturally came up.
  • What I learned, and what it means for my project: Overall, people liked the updated design. Someone suggested I just keep everything on one floor (if the home wasn’t on wheels). They also said to perhaps consider the market demographics– if this is designed for a young person, maybe it would be cheaper to just install a ladder rather than steps. Another suggestion: bathroom door can swing open since there does seem to be enough room for this! Through talking to people, I also had the idea of possibly insulating the trailer from underneath the trailer (so as to save ceiling space). Since I will be building the home to be moveable (since I will have to pack it up and bring it back home), I should also think about how I could design the house to be easily taken apart or collapsable.
