After the last prototype checkpoint was interested to get feedback on the 3D composites I had been working on. The majority of the composites had been using test footage and so I was happy with the composite itself, but not the overall look of the shots. My biggest complaint was that because I didn’t have time to create my own 3D models and ones that were very high quality I was restricted in how the models could be used. After showing off the work that I had the consensus was that the most recent iterations of my composites had improved vastly over previous iterations, but that more work could be put into making the scene feel complete with the model. Additional adjustment layers to add stylized effects to the scenes was recommended to me to better pull the scene together.
Based on the feedback that I received I am going to work on improving the context of the scenes. Many of the composites that I did have good placement and tracking but lack additional effects to improve the aesthetic of the scenes. Working towards establishing an overarching theme before creating my scenes that way I know what to add to my scenes to bring them together and create a more visually compelling scene.
The measure of quality for many of the composited scenes that I am making will be how well the composited models fit into the scenes that I have shot. Having a visual style for the shots will help me better understand how to best film shots for compositing as well as help me to understand what other elements I can add to scenes to achieve a desired look.
