Presented to a tech crowd with no relation to agriculture or botany, there’s no expectation to win over every person who stops to listen and nor is it the goal. Phytosophy hopes to draw in the right people who will respect the land and have a connection with the plants they’re harvesting, which will be seldom a listener. Each approach will still be as invigorated as the last because it can’t be foreseen who’ll be genuinely interested, but it’s recognized that there’ll likely be very few if any people who’ll actually partake in foraging after my presentation.

While the focus is heavily on foraging, Phytosophy will also encompass cultivation topics such as seed collecting and starting, composting and soil building, plant transferring, and general plant care.

An aspect of Phytosophy is community based by giving users an easy way to submit information to add to the website. There will be a submit form for people to give info or suggest modifications for any mistakes I may have made. I’m also considering a comment section for posts which won’t require a login but rather the user inserts their alias each time. This way people can ask questions that others might have as well and I have a way to answer.

https://mud.edu/ || interesting and interactive transitions

https://evernote.com/ || simple yet engaging with a continuous flow; navigation bar stays fixed to top, visible when scrolling up

https://www.theverge.com/ || well put together and useful for informational layout

https://www.polygon.com/ || use of arranging posts in blocks

http://www.mosaicartnow.com/ || useful for info layout

phytosophy knowledge of plants (an actual word? unsure) Phytosophy strives to give users, especially those new to the concept of urban foraging, the tools to feel confident in finding plants with the assistance of a local expert.
